Virginia Beach Forum announces its 2013-14 season

Looks like a terrific season for the Virginia Beach Forum – shows are at the Sandler Center for Performing Arts.

World War II Heroes and the Home Front

The Virginia Beach Forum will honor local veterans of World War II while recalling the incredible impact that conflict had on the home front here in Hampton Roads. Guests will hear from vets and view scenes from a compelling new documentary about Honor Flight, a national organization with a local chapter that coordinates plane and bus trips to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Historians and long-time residents will describe how the region grew dramatically, and how the local populace sacrificed to support the war effort. Come honor our “greatest generation” while engrossing yourself in the one of the most momentous chapters in our area’s history.

She has been nominated for Golden Globes and Emmys, and has won a variety of critical awards, including a 2012 Emmy nomination for her work in “Missing:’ In recent years, she has largely chosen to opt out of acting in order to focus on humanitarian work, including serving as board member, advocate and activist for poverty alleviation, public health, human rights, and social justice.
