VB Health Department to Host Free Flu Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 5

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health will host a FREE flu vaccination clinic at Newtown Elementary School, 5277 Learning Circle, on Saturday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Virginia Beach Department of Public Health nurses and volunteer Medical Reserve Corps nurses will administer seasonal flu vaccines free of charge to the following:

 

·         Adults and children – ages 3 years and older

·         Children  (ages 3-8) should bring copy of immunization record, if available

·         For children, accompanying adult must have photo ID

·         Vaccine supply is limited – 800 doses are available. Individuals will receive vaccine on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

The Centers for Disease Control recommends that individuals receive flu vaccinations because the virus spreads quickly, especially in school and child care settings, and often affects young, healthy adults.

Individuals with questions pertaining to the vaccination clinics can call the Department of Public Health at (757) 518-2700 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
