Sandler Center Art Gallery Hosts The Artists Gallery Children’s Mural

On Display For A Limited Time Only

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA —  Over 80 children had the opportunity to participate in painting four panels of artwork during Kids Arts Palooza 2015 in collaboration with The Artists Gallery. The large scale community mural will be on display at the Sandler Center for a limited time only, ending August 24.


The Sandler Center is proud to display the children’s work and video documentation of the process which shows the many children painting the panels over and over again.


“The art is not just in the visual outcome but in the process of joy and expression,” said Daniel Kathalynas, one of the participants of The Artists Gallery.



The Artists Gallery is a member managed artist cooperative that consists of over 45 talented individuals and has been in operation for over 25 years. The Artists Gallery features monthly exhibitions and provides visual arts education by leading classes, workshops, and demonstrations.


The four-panel mural is available for purchase, with proceeds to benefit the Public Art Virginia Beach Foundation.  If you are interested in joining the auction to purchase this mural, please contact Christine Layne at The auction will close on Friday, August 21st at 5:00pm.



The Artists Gallery children’s mural will be on view in the second and third floor lobbies from August 1 – 24, 2015 during the Sandler Center’s normal operating hours: Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or during any performance at the Sandler Center.



The role of the Office of Cultural Affairs is to develop the vision and direction of the cultural arts in Virginia Beach, assist and direct the Virginia Beach Arts and Humanities Commission, coordinate the city’s Public Art Program, provide contract management for the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, provide administrative leadership to the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts’ 501(c)3 Foundation and serve as staff liaison to local arts and humanities organizations.
