Paws up for the K-9 Karnival at Mount Trashmore Park

K-9 Karnival

Canine lovers and their furry friends are invited to Mount Trashmore Park for a day dedicated to the dogs. Pound puppies to the purebred can come paw-to-paw with numerous canine demonstrations, competitions, displays and more at the K-9 Karnival! All dogs (with up-to-date inoculations) are encouraged to attend this free event with their owners! #VBParksRec

2015 Hyperflite® Skyhoundz® Local Championships | Registration 10 am – 12 pm; canine disc competition 1 – 3 pm
Unleash the champion in your dog during this ever-entertaining contest with amazing displays of canine grace, athleticism and agility. This disc-catching event is open to all owners and dogs, regardless of breed, size or experience. Register your dog to participate and receive a free Hyperflite disc to use during the competition which is yours to keep!
Canine Rescue Organizations | Canine rescue organizations will have educational displays and canine activities. The Hairier Jump Jets Flyball Team | (Across from Shelter 1) Watch the fur fly as the Hairier Jump Jets Flyball Team holds demonstrations throughout the day! Flyball is a fast moving team sport for dogs, involving a racing course with hurdles, a spring loaded plate, and flying tennis balls.​
Agility Course | 10 am – 3 pm | $2
Come play on the agility equipment, it’s the best fun your dog will ever have! With jumps, hoops, tunnels and more, all ages with their pups are allowed to try out the agility course for a $2 fee. All dogs must be on a leash. Presented in partnership with the Family Dog Club, Inc.
24th Annual Dog-Gonest Dog Show | Registration 10 am; contests 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
(Shelter 1) This is 15 seconds of fame for you and your favorite mutt! Does your dog love peanut butter? Have him or her compete in contests like the “GREAT Peanut Butter Lick-Off!”  Additional contests include Tail Wagging, Barking, and “Stupid Pet Tricks.” Register at the show arena on the day of the event. Participation is free and prizes will be awarded!
Neuter Scooter & Shot Clinic by VBSPCA | 10 am – 3 pm
A must for every dog! Offered onsite at the “Neuter Scooter” by the Virginia Beach SPCA. VBSPCA veterinarians will provide rabies, bordetella and distemper vaccinations at a reduced rate of $10 each, and found animals microchips at a cost of $15 per pet. Must bring vaccine history in order to receive a 3-year rabies shot or microchip. Low-cost canine and feline spay/neuter also available. Spay and neuter appointments must be made in advance by calling 757-323-7729. View pricing for surgical services​

Dog Park Registration

The City has three dog parks consisting of a fenced area where dogs can run free from their leashes. Dog Parks​ are located at Bayville Farms, Red Wing and Woodstock Parks. Parks & Recreation staff will be at K-9 Karnival to assist with registration. An annual registration fee of $15 is required (for the first dog, $10 for each additional dog). Please bring proof of city license and rabies certificate as proof of vaccination.
