As a result of the imminent resignations of Councilmembers Glenn R. Davis and Bill R. DeSteph, who were recently elected to the Virginia General Assembly, there will be two vacancies on the City Council: one for the Rose Hall District seat and one for an At-Large seat.  The City Council encourages citizens interested in these positions, who are registered voters, to submit the following items by noon on Dec. 2:

1.    A letter stating interest in serving as a member of the City Council

2.    A statement of qualifications

3.    A recent photo

4.    A completed questionnaire, which can be found at www.vbgov.com/vacancies.

All documents must be submitted to:

Ruth Hodges Fraser, MMC, City Clerk

281 City Hall, Municipal Center

2401 Courthouse Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23456-9005

Or fax to (757) 385-5669

Or email to rhfraser@vbgov.com

Candidates for the Rose Hall seat must reside in that District. Candidates for the At-Large seat may reside anywhere in the city. The citizens appointed by City Council to fill these vacancies will serve until candidates are elected during the Nov. 4, 2014, election and have qualified to serve.
